Listen to This
(trigger warning: glitter mentioned)
Let me tell you what we’re going to be doing at the writing retreat, and then you tell me if you want to come.
Thursday night, July 30th, we’re going to meet at around 5:30pm and do a creative activity that Lara planned, and that is basically a vision board ON STEROIDS. It’s a way of getting to know each other and tapping in to our creative side that I had never heard of before and when I heard what she was planning, I offered to bring glitter.
Then, we’re all going to go across the street for Mexican, walking through a courtyard (ok a suburban mall) with twinkly lights.
Next morning, we meet up around 9am for Lara’s first writing workshop, then we all have lunch, go outside take a little break, and come back together for Lara’s second writing workshop. She hasn’t told me yet, but I have a hunch that one will be about fragments, which is writing tiny pieces about your life.
Rest of the evening is free to explore Montreal, have some poutine, get a little solo writing in.
Saturday morning we will start a little later, 10am and I will be teaching two short sessions based on my favourite writing books. We will get to try out some of the techniques offered by the pros, and then we’ll have lunch and then I’ll do another session and then - if you want - you’ll have a chance to share your work.
Saturday night we will optionally all go out together, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
Sunday morning we will have our “closing ceremonies”, a bagel brunch and send you on your way by noon.
All of this can be yours for just $180 USD. Your lunches are included, you can stay anywhere in Montreal you want and if you really want to come but finances are an issue, speak to me about a payment plan.
What do you think, are you in?
Message me for more information, or you can email me at amyfishwrites@gmail.com
Just so you know what to picture, this is a small, intimate workshop. We are picturing around six or seven people plus the two of us.
I’m so excited about this - we’re going to have the best time!! Pack your glitter and join us. Just kidding, we have enough glitter for everyone.
Here are a bunch of pictures of Lara and I at other writing conferences over the years:

This sounds like a wonderful dream. Who wouldn't want to come?
I have a conflict. Perhaps another weekend!
